By including a multi-purpose input board, I was able to seamlessly join my 50 Volt / 3 Amp variable dc PSU to my variable dual voltage dc supply plus a stabilised 5 Volt supply for a panel meter. This will provide me with a very flexible bench-based power test facility.

This project is a joining of the previous two separate power supplies already published in Elektor myLAB. This means that the bulk of the diagrams and descriptions for this project can be found in myLAB.

The main input of this project is the modified AC input PCB. This holds a small dual output transformer and resettable fuses for the dual voltage DC supply. It also contains the bridge rectifier and fuse for the 50V/3A DC power supply along with handy connections to the chassis-mounted capacitor, and the power transistors. An additional feature is the inclusion of a stabilised 5V supply for meters or control circuits.

With respect to the meters, there are many types of basic panel meter to be found on the Internet at very reasonable prices  and will have sufficient range and accuracy for power supply use.  In the future, I hope to design my own meter system with heatsink temperature monitoring and additional features.

Please ensure that all wiring has sufficient cross-sectional area to carry all design currents before installing.

As a footnote, this project has been designed, built and assembled and is working well. Ironically, I still haven't finished the new front panel design yet.
